Food Prices in Nigeria rise steadily Month-on-Month – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said prices of food have continued to rise on a month-on-month basis, as its reports show a steady increase in prices in the month of June, 2021.

The Summary of “Selected Food Price Watch”, said selected data for June 2021 indicated that the average price of one dozen of agric eggs medium size increased Year-on-Year by 17.69 percent and month-on-month by 2.76percent to N556.47 in June 2021 from N541.53 in May.

The report indicated that average price of piece of agric eggs medium size (price of one) increased YoY by 21.44 percent and month- on-month by 2.46 percent to N51.22 in June 2021 from N49.99 in May 2021.

The report said the “average price of 1kg of tomato increased year-on-year by 13.92 per cent and month-on-month by 10.53per cent to N335.46 in June 2021 from N303.51 in May 2021.

“The average price of 1kg of yam (imported high quality sold loose) increased year year-on-year by 16.31per cent and month-on-month by 2.5per cent to N557.98 in June 2021 from N544.09 in May 2021.

“Similarly, the average price of 1kg of yam tuber increased year-on-year by 14.69 per cent by 14.69per cent and month on month by 6.50per cent to N287.54 in June 2021from N269.98 in May 2021.”
