Nigeria Mourns Victims of Fireworks Factory Explosion in China

The Nigerian Government has expressed sorrow over the tragic explosion at a fireworks factory in Liuyang City, Hunan Province, in the People’s Republic of China, which claimed at least 21 lives and left several others injured.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the government extended condolences to the Chinese authorities and citizens affected by the disaster.

The explosion, which occurred at the Huasheng Fireworks facility, caused widespread destruction, displaced residents, and triggered a large-scale emergency response, including the evacuation of nearby communities.

The Nigerian government commended the swift action of emergency responders and rescue teams working to save lives and prevent further harm in the aftermath of the incident.

The government also conveyed its sympathies to the families of the victims, as well as to those injured and impacted by the tragedy, noting “the shared human pain that accompanies such sudden and devastating events.”

Reaffirming the strong ties between both nations, Nigeria stressed its solidarity with China during this difficult period and reiterated “its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in both challenging and prosperous times.”
