Jigawa state Governor, Umar Namadi has expressed optimism that the ongoing review of Nigeria’s revenue allocation formula will promote fairness, equity, and justice among states and other stakeholders across the country.
The governor stated this while receiving a delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission led the Federal Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State, Imo Effiong Akpan, at the Government House in Dutse.
The delegation was in Jigawa State to commence the Nationwide Data Verification Exercise, part of efforts to review the nation’s revenue allocation formula in line with current socioeconomic realities.

Governor Namadi described the exercise as timely and necessary, noting that changing economic and developmental conditions across the federation make the review process important.
He expressed confidence that the commission would ensure fairness throughout the exercise.
“We are confident that there will be fairness in this exercise. We believe everybody will be treated fairly according to the standards expected,” the governor stated.
Namadi also recalled that previous attempts to review the revenue allocation formula were unsuccessful, but said the determination shown by the current leadership of the commission gives hope for a successful outcome.
He commended the commission for initiating the process and pledged the full support and cooperation of the Jigawa State Government.
Earlier, Mr Akpan explained that the Nationwide Data Verification Exercise was aimed at ensuring that data used for revenue allocation reflects present-day realities across the federation.
According to him, changes in population, infrastructure development, and other socioeconomic factors make periodic verification necessary to guarantee fairness in the distribution of national resources.
He assured the governor that the exercise would be conducted with transparency, professionalism, and objectivity in line with global best practices.
Details of the engagement was contained in a press statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary Hamisu Gumbel.
