Akwa Ibom APC Presidential Primary Delivers Tinubu Landslide Victory

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State and collation officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Primary,Pastor Umo Eno, has announced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the All Progressives Congress presidential primary in the state with 389,197 votes.

Announcing the result, the governor said, ‘The total number of registered party members in the state is 425,855; the total number of accredited voters for today’s exercise is 393,695; and the total number of votes cast across all the 31 local government areas is 389,197. At the end of the voting exercise, the aspirants scored the following votes: Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, 389,197 votes; Stanley Osifo, No Votes. By the powers conferred on me as the collation officer of the All Progressives Congress Presidential primaries for the APC in Akwa Ibom state, I hereby declare Bola Ahmed Tinubu the winner of the Presidential Primaries Unopposed.”

The governor, while congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his overwhelming victory in the state, also thanked members of the APC, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, stakeholders and the good people of Akwa Ibom State for the peaceful conduct witnessed throughout the exercise across the state.

“The peaceful and orderly atmosphere that characterised the primaries is a reflection of the unity and commitment of our people to the continued peace and progress of Akwa Ibom State. As a party, we will continue to work together and galvanise support ahead of the 2027 elections,” he said.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also congratulated President Tinubu on the outcome and commended Governor Eno for what he described as a peaceful exercise.

“I assure you that with the kind of conduct that I have witnessed, I believe in the future all political parties should adopt this system of ensuring that the governors of their parties are actually the returning officers and actually the chief collation officers,” he said.

He noted that “The party has done well under Professor Nentawe Yilwatda by the kind of organisation through direct primaries that even if you were a sole aspirant to become a candidate, you must also be voted for by party faithfuls.”

Akpabio noted that “this has led to inclusiveness”. I have seen thousands and thousands of party faithful across the wards in the local government areas of the state, culminating in today, which we are witnessing.”

According to him, “The President will hear the news; he will receive it. I have a copy I will show him in advance that Akwa Ibom is united for him.”

Akpabio credited the conduct of the exercise to the direct primary system and the provisions of the Electoral Act, reaffirming the commitment of the legislature to ensuring that the law works for all Nigerians.

Present at the announcement were Minister of State Petroleum Gas Ekperikpe Ekpo; Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi; Nigerian Ambassador to Germany Ita Enang; APC State Chairman Stephen Ntukekpo; the wife of the Senate President; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Mkpisong Frank Archibong; President General Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative Uwem Okoko; Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor (EA/CDA) to Governor Aniefiok Udo Johnson; and other party stakeholders.
