Hundreds of residents in Okene Local Government Area have benefited from free, comprehensive medical care as the Kogi State Ministry of Health carried out a large-scale outreach at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Agassa.
The intervention was organised under the leadership of the Commissioner for Health, Kogi State, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza.

Attendees and health workers described the outreach as “healthcare in action,” having delivered full-scale services at no cost to patients.
The exercise aimed to expand access to quality care, enable early detection of critical conditions, and strengthen primary healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.
Services Delivered On-Site
Medical teams set up multiple service points across the PHC and attended to a large turnout of patients from early morning until late evening.
Services provided included free medical consultations across multiple specialties, allowing patients to receive expert assessment without referral delays or consultation fees.
Diagnostic investigations, including laboratory tests and diagnostic X-ray, were conducted to aid prompt diagnosis and treatment. Free medications were also administered and dispensed on-site to ensure immediate care.

Scale of Intervention
A large number of qualified health workers participated in the exercise, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, radiographers, community health workers, and health educators.
Their coordinated efforts ensured orderliness despite the crowd, while patients received one-on-one care alongside proper counseling.
Leadership by Example
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, was actively attending to patients beyond coordinating logistics and mobilisation.
He engaged directly with community members and supervised service delivery.
While addressing participants, he declared: “It is important to give back to society, to bring medical services closer to the people, so they can feel the direct impact of governance at the state level.”
“The ministry will continue to drive the vision of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo in the health sector,” he added.
In his remarks, State SWAp Desk Officer, Dr Emmanuel Jonah affirmed that the medical team ensured that everyone who attended the outreach received proper medical attention and professional treatment.
As Kogi State continues to prioritise universal health coverage, interventions like this reinforce the role of primary healthcare centers as the first line of defense for communities.
For residents of Agassa in Okene LGA, the outreach will be remembered as the day quality healthcare came directly to their doorstep.
