The people of Southern Kaduna have conferred their highest regional honour, the Grand Commander of Southern Kaduna (GCSK), on the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), recognising his contributions to national security, peacebuilding and national unity.
The recognition, conferred during a gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, youth groups, religious stakeholders and community representatives, reflects growing efforts by regional constituencies to acknowledge individuals viewed as contributing to national stability amid Nigeria’s evolving security environment.
Within his remarks at the ceremony, General Musa dedicated the honour to patriotic Nigerians and described Southern Kaduna as ‘a region rich in human capital and opportunity.’
He urged young people to remain law-abiding and resist involvement in activities capable of fueling insecurity or social instability.
The Defence Minister further said that “security remains a shared national responsibility,” emphasising the importance of cooperation between communities and security institutions in addressing emerging threats.

He particularly acknowledged the role of local leaders in intelligence gathering and encouraged sustained support through the provision of timely and credible information capable of strengthening security responses.
The event also served as a platform to reinforce values frequently associated with Southern Kaduna’s identity, including hard work, service, sacrifice, humility and respect for lawful authority.
General Musa argued that national development remains closely linked to social cohesion and peaceful coexistence, while also urging continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the Southern Kaduna Leaders Council, the award reflects recognition of a military career and public service record that have projected the region positively within national and international circles.
Speaking on behalf of the council, Chairman Elder Akau Moses described the Defence Minister as a worthy ambassador of Southern Kaduna whose professionalism, patriotism and dedication to duty have earned widespread respect.
He noted that the honour was intended not only to celebrate personal achievement but also to inspire younger generations towards service, discipline and national commitment.
