The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ebonyi State has urged 1,160 newly sworn-in corps members to remain law-abiding and selfless in the discharge of their one-year national service.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Malgwi Maidariya, gave the advice during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course for corps members deployed to Ebonyi State at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Old MacGregor College, Afikpo, in Afikpo Local Government Area of the state.
Maidariya said the theme of the orientation course is: “Strengthening the Orientation Course to Advance National Priorities and Contemporary Challenges.”
According to her, “A total of 1,160 corps members, comprising 561 males and 599 females, have so far been duly registered and are ready today to take the Oath of Allegiance and commence their one-year national service.”

She commended the partnership between the NYSC and the Ebonyi State Government. However, she appealed to the state government to provide further support in areas where challenges still exist, particularly the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training centre.
The Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Justice Elvis Ngene, represented by Justice Emmanuel Ogbulefi, administered the Oath of Allegiance to the corps members.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Hilary Obisie, who represented Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, encouraged the corps members to always remember that they were in the state to promote national unity and development.
He urged them to conduct themselves responsibly and project a positive image wherever they might be posted during the course of their service year.
