Governor Adeleke Endorses President Tinubu, Flags Off Re-election Campaign

Yinka Salaam, Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has flagged off his re-election campaign under the Accord Party with a promise to accelerate development, as he endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.

The campaign, which commenced on Tuesday at the popular Freedom Park, Osogbo, the state capital, attracted party leaders and party members from across the state, as well as defectors from other parties.

Speaking at the event, Adeleke highlighted his achievements and the updated five-point agenda he promised to implement if re-elected as governor on August 15.

“As we seek your votes on August 15, we also restate our endorsement of our son, father and leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for re-election in 2027. Our support for Mr President is unshaken and total.

“Elders and youths of Osun State, in almost four years of my governorship, I have diligently delivered on my electoral promises. I have been faithful to the delivery of good governance in our dear state.

“Our government is paying off inherited half-salary debt; cancelling pension debt; upgrading our towns; rehabilitating our schools; attending to the health sector; developing a new stadium; implementing mechanisation of farming; reforming our water sector; developing Osun’s digital economy; enforcing budget transparency; executing local content; and acting to contain climate change.

“Our commendable performance is validated by several recognitions and awards from federal and national organisations. Permit me to cite some examples as follows:

“Osun moved to 7th position in the NECO ranking for 2024 and 2025 from number 33 in 2022. Our state won the primary health care challenge for both 2024 and 2025, coming first in the South West with a price of $500,000 in both years.

He stated that , Osun moved from 14th position in 2022 to 4th position in 2025 in access to clean/drinking water. Osun was recently ranked 7th in terms of efficiency of public hospitals.”

Governor Adeleke said the government has reduced Osun’s debt stock by over 40 percent, according to the National Debt Management Office.

He stated that while Osun recorded 100 percent in BudgIT Fiscal Transparency Recognition for 2025, the administration has equally reduced Osun’s infrastructure deficit by over 40 percent and emerged within a single-digit rating for local content application.

The governor therefore sought a fresh mandate under an updated five-point agenda which he promised to fulfil if elected on August 15th.

The five-point agenda includes the following: Youth, women’s and workers’ welfare; infrastructure consolidation for economic wellbeing; agro-industrial expansion for human growth and prosperity; affordable health and educational opportunities; and an improved business environment for job creation.

Court Judgement

Reacting to the recent court judgement directing the Independent National Electoral Commission to deregister the Accord Party along with four other political parties for non-fulfilment of constitutional requirements, Adeleke maintained that the party will be on the ballot.

“Let me start by assuring you all – Accord will be on the ballot; your votes will count; and I will be re-elected as your governor on August 15th.

“All lawful means are being deployed to sustain and retain our rights to vote and be voted for. We will not bow to dark forces; we remain courageous, and we shall again be victorious by the special grace of God.”

The governor therefore charged the electorates to hold their heads high, saying the light of good governance must continue to spread to all corners of Osun State.

He urged them to go out to all voting units and mobilise for Accord, stressing that the party remains a duly registered political party in Nigeria. He stated that the rule of law must prevail and democracy must survive.

Handing over the flag of the Accord Party to the governor, the National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, appealed to voters to re-elect Governor Ademola Adeleke.

He urged the people of Osun State to support Governor Adeleke, considering the good work he had done.

Mgbudem stressed that the will of the Osun people will not be subverted as long as the people stand by their governor.
