NDE to engage 14,000 youths in Zamfara
The National Directorate of Employment, NDE has flagged off the Extended Special Public Works in Zamfara state with 14,000 beneficiaries as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster Management, Hajia Sadia Umar Farouq said, the programme was implemented in 8 States of the federation in order to gauge its impact on addressing the increasing population of unemployed youths and rising insecurity in some parts of the country.
The Minister who was represented by her Special Adviser Special Duties, Mr. Musa Zubairu said, the strategy was adopted to fast track the achievement of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (2017-2020)
On his part, the Chairman, Selection Committee of the Programme, Engr. Ahmad Garba Yandi, noted that the 14,000 youths of Zamfara state out of the 774,000 across the Nation will be engaged in Public works that includes Cleaning of Worship places, Clearance of Drainages, Rural Roads among others, saying the programme which is under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment was part of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to improve the living standard of Nigerians.

Also Speaking, Ag. Director General of the NDE Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, represented by Ibrahim Jimada, Deputy Director Human Resources, expressed gratitude to President Muhammad Buhari for entrusting the implementation of the project to NDE, saying they justify the trust.
Earlier, Zamfara State government through the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Mahadi Aliyu Commended the Federal Government for initiating the project that has multiple benefits to the state and the country.
The NDE Coordinator, Gusau Office, Mr. Abdullahi Yakubu said the 14,000 in the state will benefit with Eight Hundred and Forty Million Naira in 3 months of the project their by boosting the economy of the state and that of the country.
