Nigeria’s Military Offensive Forces Senior ISWAP Commanders to Surrender

By Nokai Origin, Abuja

The Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East Nigeria), Operation HADIN KAI, says sustained military operations have compelled another group of senior ISWAP leaders to surrender, in what it described as a further setback to the insurgent group’s operational capacity.

The development, according to the military, followed sustained intelligence-driven operations targeting Boko Haram and ISWAP enclaves across the North East.

In a statement, the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said; “the latest surrender reflects the continued impact of coordinated counterterrorism operations aimed at disrupting insurgent leadership and degrading the group’s fighting capability.”

He noted that the operations form part of ongoing efforts to restore security, dismantle terrorist networks and create conditions for lasting peace and stability in the North East.

According to the statement, the surrendered individuals include key members of the terrorist leadership who abandoned their enclaves amid intensified military operations. They are currently undergoing profiling, debriefing and other established procedures in line with operational protocols.

The Theatre Command said “the latest development reflects the cumulative impact of sustained military pressure that has continued to dismantle terrorist camps, disrupt command and logistics networks, and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the theatre of operations.”

It stressed that persistent offensive operations have significantly degraded the terrorists’ combat capability while weakening confidence within both their rank and leadership structure.

The command further disclosed that within the past week alone, 76 terrorist fighters, alongside members of their families, voluntarily surrendered to troops operating across the North East.

Operation HADIN KAI attributed the successes to a combination of precision combat operations, intelligence-led engagements and coordinated joint efforts with strategic partners, describing the approach as central to Nigeria’s broader counterterrorism and counterinsurgency strategy.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed that offensive operations would continue relentlessly until the remaining terrorist elements are either neutralised or compelled to surrender as efforts intensify to restore lasting peace and security across the North East.
