Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday held talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing in Beijing, reaffirming China’s commitment to strengthening ties with its neighbour and expanding cooperation on development, security, trade and infrastructure.
Xi said China places its relationship with Myanmar as a priority in its neighbourhood diplomacy and supports the country’s efforts to balance development and security while pursuing a path suited to its national conditions.
He reiterated China’s policy of non-interference, saying, “China adheres to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs, pursues a friendly policy toward all the people of Myanmar, and firmly supports Myanmar in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Highlighting the start of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), Xi said China is ready to share its development experience and deepen cooperation through the China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

also described the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor as a flagship Belt and Road project and called for the steady and secure implementation of key projects to boost Myanmar’s economy and improve livelihoods.
Xi pledged greater support for Myanmar’s post-earthquake reconstruction and called for continued joint efforts to combat online gambling, telecom fraud and drug trafficking.
He also expressed support for peace and reconciliation in Myanmar through dialogue to promote lasting stability.
Min Aung Hlaing praised the long-standing “pauk-phaw” friendship between the two countries, thanked China for its continued support, and reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to the one-China principle.
He said, “Myanmar attaches great importance to the safety of Chinese enterprises and personnel in Myanmar and will make every effort to ensure their security.”
Min Aung added that Myanmar would work closely with China to crack down on online gambling and telecom fraud while strengthening border security.
The two leaders also witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements covering transportation and people’s livelihoods following the talks.
Xi earlier hosted an official welcome ceremony and banquet for the visiting Myanmar president.
