The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Savannah Centre, Prof. Ibrahim A. Gambari, has charged the newly inaugurated members of the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development (SCDDD) Council of the Wise on Leadership Effectiveness and Accountability Dialogue (LEAD) to provide visionary leadership and strategic guidance in promoting dialogue, accountability, national cohesion, and peaceful, credible elections as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Prof. Gambari gave the charge during the inauguration of the reconstituted LEAD Council in Abuja, held under the theme “Towards a Cohesive, Peaceful and Secure Nigeria Beyond the 2027 General Elections”.
The Council comprises eminent Nigerians drawn from the country’s six geopolitical zones, including distinguished figures from the diplomatic community, governance, academia, civil society, the media, the creative industry, and organisations representing persons with disabilities.
The inauguration was followed by the Council’s inaugural meeting, signalling a renewed commitment to strengthening democratic governance and advancing a more peaceful, united and secure Nigeria.

The Council is chaired by the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON (Rtd).
Other members include Prof. Shu’aibu Oba Abdulraheem, OFR; Mrs Joke Silva, MFR; Amb. Dr Godknows Igali, OON; Prof. Joy Ngozi Ezello, SAN, OON; Amb. (Prof.) Abdullahi Shehu Yibaikwal; Mr Tunji Lardner; Amb. Abdul’aziz M. Kano; Amb. Ummu Kalthum Muhammad; Malam Abdullahi Aliyu Usman; and Amb. Sani Bala, who serves as secretary.
