The Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has intensified pressure on terrorist groups operating across Katsina and Zamfara states, repelling multiple coordinated attacks, rescuing an abducted district head and recovering arms during sustained offensive operations aimed at denying criminal groups freedom of movement.
The operational successes were disclosed in a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, highlighting a series of intelligence-led operations conducted on 2 July across the North-West theatre.
Troops of Sector 2 operating in Katsina State engaged armed terrorists during a fighting patrol between Amara and Chakau Junction in Danmusa Local Government Area after the fleeing criminals opened fire on advancing troops.
The soldiers responded with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to retreat and recovering one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition and two motorcycles.

In a separate operation around Sabon Gari and Dantakeri villages in Dutsinma Local Government Area, troops, working alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes, responded swiftly to a terrorist attack, neutralising one of the assailants during the exchange of fire.
The operation also led to the rescue of the District Head of Farin Hawa Village, Mr Mubarak Sharin, who had been abducted during a terrorist attack on the community in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
Troops pursuing the fleeing terrorists engaged the criminals, neutralised one of them, disrupted their withdrawal and successfully rescued the traditional ruler.
In neighbouring Zamfara State, troops stationed at Dauran in Bukkuyum Local Government Area repelled another terrorist attack after receiving reinforcement from a fighting patrol. The terrorists were forced to flee, abandoning one AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 35 rounds of ammunition, a bandolier and a hydration pack.

The latest operations underscore the sustained pressure being mounted against terrorist networks across the North-West through coordinated efforts involving the military, other security agencies and community-based security partners.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations across the theatre while strengthening collaboration with local communities to enhance security and protect lives and property.
