The Nigerian Government has congratulated the Republic of Malawi on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, extended warm congratulations to Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the people of Malawi as they marked the historic milestone.
The minister described the anniversary as “a significant milestone” that reflects “the resilience, unity and enduring spirit of the Malawian people in their pursuit of sovereignty, peace and sustainable development.”
She noted that Nigeria joined Malawi in celebrating the occasion, underscoring the two countries’ shared commitment to freedom, democratic values, and regional stability.
According to the statement, Nigeria and Malawi enjoy cordial bilateral relations founded on cooperation in trade, agriculture, education, capacity building, and multilateral engagement.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with Malawi by exploring new areas of cooperation and enhancing people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of both countries.
She also conveyed Nigeria’s warm felicitations to the Government and people of Malawi, wishing the country continued peace, prosperity, and national progress.
