Anambra State has emerged among Nigeria’s top-performing states in the latest Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria Subnational Status Ranking, earning a 100 per cent “Healthy” rating for implementing transparency, accountability and citizen-centred governance reforms.
The July 2026 ranking released by OGP Nigeria placed Anambra alongside Kaduna and Plateau states, with all three attaining the highest score under the partnership’s subnational performance assessment framework.
The assessment measures participating states’ compliance with open government principles, including transparency, accountability and citizen participation, using a nine-point evaluation framework.
Adamawa, Kano, Kogi and Osun were also rated “Healthy”, scoring 90 per cent, while Bauchi, Gombe and Jigawa each recorded 80 per cent.

Abia, Oyo and Taraba were placed in the “Need to Grow” category, while Delta, Kebbi, Yobe, Cross River, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Nasarawa, Sokoto and Zamfara were ranked under “Critical Condition”.
Reacting to the ranking, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Christian Aburime, described the result as an independent validation of the Anambra State Government’s commitment to transparent, accountable and citizen-centred governance.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Aburime said the assessment was based on verifiable evidence rather than official claims, adding that the state’s perfect score reflected the consistent implementation of institutional reforms under the Soludo administration.
He said the rating demonstrated that transparency and accountability had become embedded in the state’s governance system through sustained reforms and improved public sector management.
Aburime also attributed improvements in service delivery, particularly in primary healthcare, to the administration’s governance approach, noting that the sector had received recognition from international organisations, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
According to him, the OGP rating is expected to boost investor confidence by enhancing the predictability of regulatory and fiscal processes while reinforcing transparency and accountability in public resource management.
He concluded that the ranking should serve as an incentive for sustained reforms, noting that the OGP framework requires continuous implementation, stakeholder engagement and periodic assessment to maintain high governance standards.
