The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Oyo State Government and security agencies for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Ikharo Attah, the minister described the operation as a strong demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to the safety and wellbeing of Nigerian children.
Alausa praised President Tinubu for his leadership and determination to ensure the victims regained their freedom.
He also lauded Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the state government for their cooperation with security agencies and support throughout the rescue operation.
The minister further commended the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force and other security and intelligence agencies for their professionalism and coordination, which led to the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of suspects.
“The successful rescue of these innocent children and their teachers is a moment of great relief for the nation. It reflects the determination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to protect the lives of Nigerians and demonstrates the growing effectiveness of collaboration among the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and our security agencies,” he said.
Alausa added that the operation had restored hope to affected families and reassured Nigerians of the government’s resolve to tackle criminality.
He expressed sympathy to the rescued pupils, teachers and their families for the trauma they endured in captivity and prayed for their quick recovery.
The minister reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to strengthening school safety nationwide in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also urged parents, communities, school authorities and other stakeholders to remain vigilant and support security agencies in ensuring schools remain safe for teaching and learning.
