The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to prioritise mechanised agriculture and the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads if elected in the August 15 governorship election.
Oyebamiji made the pledge while addressing supporters at the APC campaign rally for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, held at the Ibokun and Ijebu-Jesa market squares.
He said his administration would focus on transforming the socio-economic fortunes of agrarian communities across the state through increased investment in agriculture and rural infrastructure.
Presenting the APC manifesto, the governorship candidate described agriculture as the cornerstone of his economic agenda, noting that Osun State possesses a comparative advantage in the sector.
“I am optimistic that, with your support, I will emerge victorious in the August 15, 2026 governorship election. One of my major priorities is to develop the economy of Osun State through agriculture, where the state has a comparative advantage.
“Our plan is to promote mechanised farming across agrarian communities to make farming easier, more attractive and more productive,” he said.
Oyebamiji also promised to improve farmers’ access to markets through the construction of new rural roads and the rehabilitation of existing ones.
“We will not only increase agricultural output, but also connect farming communities to markets by constructing new rural roads and rehabilitating existing ones,” he stated.
The APC flagbearer further pledged to ensure the equitable distribution of development projects across the state, stressing that no local government area would receive preferential treatment.
He said his administration would uphold fairness and inclusiveness, ensuring that every part of the state benefits from good governance.
“As I stated during our campaign flag-off in Ile-Ife and reiterated to our traditional rulers in Obokun and Oriade, our administration will not favour one local government area over another.
“We have campaigned across all the local government areas, and by the grace of God, we will reciprocate the support of the people through fair and inclusive governance,” he said.
Oyebamiji also expressed concern over the poor condition of public infrastructure, particularly schools, primary healthcare centres and road networks.
He pledged to rehabilitate public schools and primary healthcare centres, improve road infrastructure and recruit qualified teachers and healthcare workers to expand access to quality education and healthcare services.
The Ogboni of Ibokun, Oba Festus Adegboro, the Egboro of Ijebu-Jesa, Oba Moses Agunsoye, and other traditional rulers in the federal constituency offered royal blessings and prayers for the success of the APC candidate in the forthcoming governorship election.
