The President of the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), Olabisi Joseph, has been elected the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Continental President for Africa.
Joseph was elected during the 2026 ISF General Assembly held in Belgrade, Serbia. The event attracted delegates from 82 countries, with 79 votes cast by member nations from across the world. The election marked a historic milestone for Nigeria and African.
She becomes the first African woman and the first female in the history of the ISF to be elected continental president for Africa. The NSSF described the achievement as a reflection of Nigeria’s growing leadership and influence in the development of school sports across Africa.
The election recognised Joseph’s commitment and contributions to the advancement of school sports over the years.
“The Nigeria School Sport Federation is proud to announce that its President, Olabisi Joseph, has been elected as the International School Sport Federation Continental President for Africa,” the Secretary-General of the NSSF, Funsho Usman, said in a statement.
“This historic achievement is a testament to Nigeria’s growing leadership and influence in school sports development across Africa and the world.”

The federation expressed confidence that Joseph’s leadership would strengthen school sports development across Africa and deepen collaboration among member countries.
