The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has praised the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for building and handing over a state-of-the-art North-East Zonal Headquarters and Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to the Board in Maiduguri.
The multi-million-naira facility was commissioned and formally handed over by Governor Zulum and now serves as JAMB’s North East Zonal Office, covering the six states in the region.
It comprises an administrative block and a dual CBT centre capable of accommodating 500 candidates at a time.
Speaking at the event, Governor Zulum said the project underscores his administration’s commitment to advancing educational development and supporting national institutions in delivering quality services.
He noted that the centre would ease the burden on candidates seeking admission to tertiary institutions and serve as a regional hub for entrance examinations and other JAMB activities.

The governor stressed that investment in education remains a cornerstone of his administration, adding that the centre would provide a fit-for-purpose environment for examinations, registration, and administrative services across the North-East.
Accepting the facility on behalf of JAMB, the registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, described the project as unprecedented in the board’s history.
According to him, it is the first time a state governor has independently undertaken the construction of a JAMB zonal office and CBT centre for the Board.
Professor Oloyede said the facility would enable 500 candidates to sit examinations simultaneously and process more than 2,000 candidates each day.
He added that the registration units built into the complex would significantly reduce the time required for the registration and documentation of candidates from Borno State and neighbouring states.
The outgoing Registrar praised Governor Zulum’s stewardship and dedication to education, saying the project demonstrates a genuine commitment to expanding opportunities for young people despite the challenges facing the region.
Professor Oloyede further remarked that the facility would serve as a centre of excellence for computer-based testing and administrative services while bolstering confidence in the education sector.
In recognition of his contributions to educational development, Governor Zulum instructed the Borno State Ministry of Education to name the facility after Professor Ishaq Oloyede.
