Nigeria and Tunisia have committed to strengthening bilateral relations, with both countries agreeing to expand cooperation in diplomacy, security and sustainable development.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa in a statement noted that the commitment was made during a bilateral meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union.
Kimiebi said the meeting focused on enhancing political and diplomatic relations through increased engagement between the two countries, particularly by promoting exchange programmes for young diplomats and newly appointed ambassadors.

Deeper Understanding
Both ministers agreed that such initiatives would strengthen institutional cooperation and foster deeper understanding between Nigeria and Tunisia’s diplomatic services.
“Both Ministers also explored opportunities for partnership in addressing insurgency and other security challenges affecting the region,” he said.
In addition, the ministers examined areas of collaboration aimed at promoting water, food and energy security, recognising them as critical priorities for achieving sustainable development in both countries.
The bilateral engagement underscores Nigeria’s continued commitment to strengthening partnerships with fellow African nations to address shared challenges and promote regional peace, stability and economic development.
