The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and Poverty Reduction has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with state governments to deliver sustainable humanitarian interventions and expand social protection initiatives across Nigeria.
The Minister, Dr Bernard Doro, gave the assurance when he received the Kaduna State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde, alongside the Chairman, Kaduna State House of Assembly Committee on Humanitarian Affairs, Umar Auwal Bajimi, in his office in Abuja.
Dr Doro highlighted the ministry’s ongoing reforms, including the recently launched National Poverty Lab, designed to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and accelerate poverty reduction efforts.

He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to working closely with state governments through the One Humanitarian, One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) to deliver coordinated, sustainable, people-centred humanitarian interventions across the country.
The minister also commended the Kaduna State Commissioner for his consistent participation, support for the ministry’s flagship programmes, including the launch of OHOPRS and other major humanitarian engagements.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to sustaining collaboration with the Kaduna State Government, and expressed his intention to visit the state to further strengthen the partnership and advance shared humanitarian priorities.
Earlier, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs commended the ministry’s efforts in fostering stronger collaboration with state governments.
He appealed for Federal Government support towards humanitarian councils established across Kaduna State’s local government areas, and called for enhanced interventions for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in the state.
Collaboration with Niger State
In the same vein, the minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Niger State Government in addressing humanitarian challenges.
The assurance came when he received a delegation led by the Niger State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, Dr Ahmed Ibrahim Inga.
Dr Inga commended the ministry for fostering a stronger, more productive relationship with state humanitarian institutions.
According to him, collaboration between the Federal Ministry and state ministries has never been more robust, describing the renewed partnership as timely and impactful.
The commissioner noted that the state continues to face significant humanitarian challenges requiring sustained interventions.
He recalled the minister’s previous interventions in the state, describing them as impactful and beneficial to affected communities, and appealed for continued Federal Government support to address the state’s humanitarian needs.
In his response, the minister appreciated the delegation for the visit, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working closely with state governments to strengthen humanitarian response mechanisms, promote coordinated interventions, and improve the well-being of vulnerable Nigerians.
Dr Doro emphasised that effective humanitarian action requires strong partnerships across all levels of government and reiterated the ministry’s resolve to continue supporting states through collaborative, people-centred, sustainable interventions.
