Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to sustain the peace and stability for which the state is known.

Governor Yahaya gave the assurance while receiving the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Wunukhe Maxwell Dangana, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Gombe.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Governor Yahaya emphasised that peace and security remained the foundation of sustainable development.

He said that “his administration would continue to work closely with all security agencies to safeguard lives and property while preserving the reputation of the state as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.”

According to Governor Yahaya, his government places a high premium on inter-agency collaboration, particularly as political activities gather momentum across the country.

We must continue to work together and deepen our synergy in our collective responsibility of providing robust security for our people. Everything revolves around peace and security. Despite the increasing political activities, Gombe State will remain the peaceful state it has always been,” Governor Yahaya said.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state through the provision of essential operational logistics to enhance their effectiveness and boost the morale of personnel in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

He commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their professionalism, dedication and sacrifices in tackling criminality, insurgency and other emerging security threats across the country, describing their efforts as vital to maintaining national unity and stability.

The Governor further assured the new GOC of his administration’s full cooperation, expressing confidence that the cordial relationship between the Gombe State Government and the Nigerian Army would be further strengthened under his leadership.

Major General Dangana of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Dangana, said “his visit formed part of his familiarisation tour of military formations within his area of responsibility following his recent appointment.”

He explained that he was in Gombe to formally introduce himself to the Governor after taking over command from his predecessor, following the recent redeployment of senior officers in the Nigerian Army.

Major General Dangana noted that the 3 Division oversees military operations across Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba states, stressing that the tour would enable him to assess operational activities throughout the Division’s area of responsibility.

“I came to assess the formations under my command, and I am particularly pleased to observe that Gombe State remains relatively peaceful and secure. We also had a warm, pleasant and fruitful discussion with His Excellency,” he said.

Major General Dangana commended Governor Yahaya for his unwavering support for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, describing the Governor’s cooperation as “instrumental to the successes recorded in maintaining peace and security across the state.”

“I must commend the Governor for the support and cooperation he has consistently extended to our troops here in Gombe. It is my commitment to build on the peace and security already achieved and to further strengthen our collaboration with the state government in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all,” Major General Dangana said.
