The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Bemgha Koughna, has conducted an operational assessment visit to Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
General Koughna, who visited the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kebbe and surrounding communities, also reviewed the security situation.
The visit, according to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division, was aimed at strengthening security measures and preventing further infiltration of vulnerable border communities between Sokoto and Kebbi states.

During the visit, the GOC engaged with community leaders and residents to assess the situation and hear their concerns.

He assured the residents that troops had remained deployed and alert to protect lives and property in the affected communities.
Koughna said the Army was determined to respond swiftly and decisively to emerging threats and deny terrorist elements safe havens in the area.
He urged residents to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, assuring them that security forces were firmly on the ground.
The GOC also called for greater cooperation between residents and security personnel, particularly through the prompt provision of credible and actionable intelligence on suspicious movements and activities.
He stressed that community support remained critical to detecting, disrupting and dismantling terrorist networks before they could launch attacks.
