Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have arrived in Berlin, Germany, ahead of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, which runs from September 4th to 13th.
The team received a warm welcome from Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Ita Solomon Enang and the Head of Chancery, Chioma Aisha Okorie-Haidara, alongside officials of the Nigerian diplomatic mission.
Reigning FIBA Women’s AfroBasket champions, Nigeria, will compete in Group B alongside Korea, Hungary and France.
D’Tigress will begin their World Cup campaign against Korea on September 4th, before facing Hungary and France.
The team will be aiming to build on their historic run to the quarter-finals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where they became the first African women’s basketball team to reach the last eight.
The National Sports Commission and Nigerians at home and abroad will be hoping D’Tigress can continue their impressive progress and make another strong impact on the global stage.
