Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has flagged off the National Community Food Bank Programme in Anambra State, aimed at tackling child malnutrition across the South-East.
With the flag-off, the First Lady has completed the national rollout of the intervention across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Tinubu said political leanings must be set aside to address the needs of Nigerians.

Addressing residents who gathered at the Alex Ekwueme Square to welcome her, the First Lady described the zonal rollout of the initiative across the country as “mission accomplished”, expressing optimism about the future of Nigerian children.
She said the South-East rollout should generate renewed interest at all levels in improving nutrition for children across the country.
Senator Tinubu commended Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, and his wife for their various policies and programmes, describing them as evidence of the governor’s progressive outlook.
The First Lady also inaugurated a Renewed Hope Initiative/Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
While interacting with students in one of the lecture theatres, she urged them to explore constructive ways of using technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to address societal challenges.
She also encouraged the students to join the Environment Society and develop practical solutions to challenges affecting the environment.
The First Lady said advancing digital learning in Nigeria through the inauguration of ICT Experience Centres remained a priority of her Renewed Hope Initiative.
Empowerment
While flagging off the distribution of empowerment items provided by the Anambra State Government to 5,000 beneficiaries, Mrs Tinubu announced a financial grant of N100,000 for each beneficiary to support the intervention.
Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, said the partnership between the Nigerian Government and the Anambra State Government was progressive and helping to build a framework that leaves no one behind.
As a mark of appreciation for her contributions to national development and support for her husband, President Bola Tinubu, the First Lady was conferred with the traditional title of Ugoeze of Anambra, meaning “Pride of the King”, by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka.
