Operation HADIN KAI airstrikes have destroyed terrorist structures and logistics hubs at Tumbunma Baba in Borno State, neutralising more than 18 terrorists in an intelligence-led air-ground operation.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of 11 September 2026, followed weeks of intelligence gathering that identified the area as a convergence point for high-profile terrorist elements and a network of meeting and logistics nodes.
A statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, Further surveillance and Intelligence, said surveillance and Reconnaissance confirmation from 9 September pinpointed several terrorist structures and logistics hubs within the islands, validating the area as a terrorist gathering and support base.
Following positive identification of the targets, attack platforms engaged the designated locations with precision munitions while ground troops of Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI occupied likely escape routes to support further direct-fire engagements.
The strikes destroyed the targeted structures and neutralised over 18 terrorist elements, disrupting logistics activity and degrading the ability of the enclave to function as a gathering and support base.

The operation demonstrates the operational value of combining intelligence collection, surveillance confirmation and coordinated air-ground action against terrorist networks. Rather than relying solely on kinetic action, the mission was built around a sequence of intelligence development, target validation and coordinated force employment designed to increase the effectiveness of the strike.
Post-strike assessment placed the operation at an estimated 85 per cent success in achieving its intended operational objectives.
The outcome further highlights the importance of timely Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance confirmation and the integration of air assets with ground forces operating against terrorist networks in difficult terrain.
Operation HADIN KAI will continue to conduct intelligence-driven operations in coordination with other security agencies and stakeholders to deny terrorist elements the freedom to operate, regroup or establish logistics and support infrastructure across the North East Theatre.
Members of the public have also been urged to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information to security forces to support ongoing efforts to identify and disrupt terrorist activities across the Theatre.
