The Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, has called for intensified efforts to address insecurity in parts of the country and for an independent investigation into the deaths of 37 miners in Minna, Niger State, north central Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, the party expressed concern over the reported abduction of residents of Dekara community in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State since August.
The PRP urged the government to strengthen security measures in the North-Central and North-West regions, while calling for greater accountability within the security architecture.

The party also condemned the reported deaths of 37 miners who, according to the statement, died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Minna.
It called for the establishment of an independent commission of inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and for appropriate action against anyone found responsible.
The PRP further urged relevant authorities to intensify efforts to protect lives and property and restore peace in affected communities.
The party said its position was based on its commitment to justice, good governance and the safety of Nigerians.
