Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has hailed Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for what he described as a public life defined by service as she marks her 66th birthday.
“Anambra State joins millions of Nigerians to celebrate a remarkable woman whose public life has been defined by service,” Soludo said in a goodwill message issued on Monday.
The Governor described Tinubu as a woman of “grace, conviction and compassion,” citing her interventions in support of women, children and other vulnerable Nigerians.
He noted that Mrs Tinubu’s public service, from her years in the National Assembly to her current role as First Lady, had focused on issues affecting women, children, families and vulnerable groups.
Soludo also recalled the First Lady’s official visit to Anambra on September 10, during which she launched the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East, commissioned an Information and Communications Technology Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and participated in an empowerment programme targeting 5,000 beneficiaries across the state’s 21 local government areas.
The governor said the food bank programme was significant to efforts to strengthen social support for vulnerable Nigerians, particularly amid concerns over food security and nutrition.
The governor’s wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, also congratulated Tinubu, commending her attention to vulnerable families, particularly women and children.
In a message issued through her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, Dr Nonye said Tinubu’s leadership demonstrated how compassion could contribute to social change.
“I celebrate a woman whose leadership continues to remind us that compassion can be a powerful force for change,” she said.
She noted that Mrs Tinubu’s recent engagement with Anambra went beyond the programmes launched during her visit, describing her interaction with residents as a demonstration of concern for vulnerable Nigerians.
“Beyond the programmes and interventions, what stood out was your genuine connection with the people and your message that no one should ever be left behind,” she said.
The National Community Food Bank Programme is targeted at vulnerable groups, including widows, older persons, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers and children, while the Anambra visit also featured programmes focused on digital skills and economic empowerment.
Both Soludo and his wife wished the first Lady continued good health and fulfilment as she marks her 66th birthday and continues her public service.
