Ekiti State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, disclosed this on Friday, during a sensitization programme on COVID-19 vaccines in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
The commissioner urged residents who had not received any jab during the first phase to seize the opportunity to be vaccinated, adding that the rate of spread of the virus in the state had made it a necessity for residents to get vaccinated.
He advised that “anyone who has received the first dose of Astra-Zeneca vaccines should wait for the second dose that would arrive soon”.
“People in Ekiti State are hereby urged to take the advantage of government’s gesture and get vaccinated. Getting immunized remains the most effective way to curtail the virus.
“The vaccine has been certified safe, effective and efficient in guarding against the virus. It has no negative effects. The state government is commited to curtailing the spread of the virus in the state and has made arrangements to ensure that all residents have unfettered access to the safe and effective vaccines.
“The Modena vaccines are for eligible residents who haven’t received any jab of COVID-19 vaccination.”
