Rivers United put on a five-star display at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, cruising to a 5-0 thrashing of Kun Kalifat FC in their Match day 5 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter.
The Pride of Rivers started on the front foot and were rewarded in the 27th minute when Salman Abubakar opened the scoring to give Rivers United a deserved 1-0 lead going into the break.
The second half brought an avalanche of goals.
Chijioke Mbaoma doubled the advantage four minutes after the restart, before Timothy Zachariah’s assist ensured Abubakar struck again in the 58th minute to complete his brace and put Rivers United three goals clear.
There was no let-up from the home side as Wasiu Falolu added a fourth in the 62nd minute, sending the home crowd into another celebration.
Rivers United continued to push until the final stages, with Ekene Awazie rounding off the scoring in the 84th minute to complete a memorable 5-0 win.
The emphatic result takes Rivers United up to second place with 10 points from four matches, keeping the Pride of Rivers firmly among the teams competing near the top of the table.
Rivers United will be guests to Ranchers Bees at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Monday, September 28, 2026 in a NPFL Matchday 6 tie.
