President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is on the path to greater development and prosperity, urging citizens to remain hopeful despite current challenges.
President Tinubu gave the assurance at a special Juma’at prayer to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary at the National Mosque in Abuja.
He said Nigeria would achieve greater progress in the years ahead, urging Nigerians not to lose faith in the country.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to the nation’s development, saying “the country was steadily moving towards a better future.”
Represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, the President noted that Nigeria has come of age.
He said; “despite the challenges that had characterised the country’s journey since independence, things are going to get better.”
“This 66th anniversary, by all accounts, signifies that Nigeria has come of age. A person who is 66 years old can no longer be called a child. Nigeria has matured.
“Even as we reflect on the journey from independence to date, we may say it has been a challenging one. Nigeria has been bedevilled by many issues in the past, but it has also had opportunities.
“Nevertheless, we thank Almighty Allah for granting us life and peace to witness this historic event today,” the President said.
He stated that more importantly, citizens should look at the focus of the government of today that is busy correcting all the mistakes of the past.
President Tinubu said that the present administration was addressing the mistakes and missed opportunities of the past, stressing that Nigeria was on the right path and that there was light at the end of the tunne
He called on Nigerians to give the government more opportunity to complete its ongoing work.
The President expressed optimism that the country would continue to witness peace and development under democracy.
“Peace is coming back to this country. Development is coming back to this country. Things will get better as we progress in this democracy,” he said.
The Speaker, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas urged Nigerians to give the President Tinubu’s administration more opportunity to come back and finish the good work.
The prayers ended with calls for peace, unity and progress, as Nigeria continues its journey towards a more prosperous and united nation.
