He acknowledged that some people had previously expressed doubts about his administration’s ability to execute the projects, but said the flag-off ceremonies demonstrated the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.

“Promise made, promise fulfilled. We have said it, and you people have been very patient. I know there are some people who said that this road would not be executed, but today, you can attest to the fact that we are flagging off the project,” he said.

Governor Idris assured residents that the projects formed part of his administration’s broader infrastructure development programme, adding that the government would sustain its commitment to initiatives that improve living conditions, promote economic activities and enhance the overall development of the state.

While flagging off the construction of the three-kilometre asphalt road in Aliero Quarters, the Governor declared that the title, Architect of Modern Kebbi, had come to stay.

He also expressed confidence in the contractors handling the projects, including Habibu Engineering, ABK Synergy Construction Company and New Horizon Construction Company, saying he expected them to deliver quality infrastructure that would stand the test of time.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Engineer Abdullahi Umar Muslim, described Governor Idris as a hardworking and development-oriented leader whose commitment to fulfilling promises was evident in the execution of projects across the state.

The Commissioner explained that the road projects were among twelve recently approved by the Governor, noting that some had already been flagged off, while others were scheduled to commence as part of the administration’s infrastructure development programme.

He said the government remained focused on translating its commitments into tangible results, adding that the contractors had demonstrated their readiness to execute the projects.

According to Engineer Muslim, clearance work had commenced on two of the three roads in Aliero Quarters. He expressed optimism that the contractor would complete the work within three months.

The Commissioner assured the Governor and residents that the Ministry of Works would closely monitor the projects to ensure compliance with approved standards, quality specifications and stipulated timelines.

The projects are expected to improve accessibility, ease transportation challenges, facilitate the movement of goods and services, and strengthen Birnin Kebbi’s urban road network, thereby promoting socioeconomic development and improving residents’ living conditions.
