”Tigray fighters defeated in Afar”- Ethiopia Govt

Ethiopia’s Federal government says fighters from the northern region of Tigray have been defeated in neighbouring Afar and have withdrawn from the area.

The Tigrayan forces deny they have been beaten.

They said; ”they had moved troops to the region of Amhara as there was no longer any fighting in Afar.”

There have been fierce battles in both regions in recent weeks, with both sides accusing each other of human rights abuses.

A news blackout has made it almost impossible to verify information about the war, which has been going on for nearly eleven months.
