The Governor of Jigawa State Northwest Nigeria, Mohammad Badaru Abubakar has described the National Youth Service Corps NYSC as a veritable tool that has united the country over the years.

The governor stated this while declaring open the 2021 edition of the NYSC Sports and Cultural preliminaries at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Fanisau, Jigawa State.

Abubakar who was represented at the event by the Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board, Hon. Bala Ibrahim, said the NYSC management has shown resilience in propagating national unity by organizing sports and cultural festival which involves youths who are the beacon of hope for the country.

The Governor said that with the systematic and sustaining manner in which NYSC strives to bring together all Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic differences, the country would remain united and strong.

He added that “with the scheme in place, Nigeria will remain united and stronger because it is the most realistic way that has continued to bring peace and unity to the country”

The state coordinator of NYSC in Jigawa State, Hajiya Aishatu Adamu, thanked the Director General for choosing Jigawa as the hosting state for Katsina, Kano, Sokoto, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kebbi and FCT.

She said that the choice of Jigawa was a huge credit to the state government adding that it was a further testimony that the state was one of the most NYSC friendly states in the country.

“it is equally an implication that the state is one of the most friendly and peaceful in the country.“

She therefore encouraged the contingents from the six states and FCT to feel free to move to Jigawa State after their service year and settle as the state is still growing and has lots of opportunities.
