Nigerian Government reels out events to mark Independence Day

Ahead of Nigeria’s 61st Independence day celebration, the Federal Government has reeled out events to mark the historic day.

At the World Press Conference in Abuja, the nation’s capital, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Ifeoma Anyanwutaku, said the briefing will signpost the commencement of activities for this year’s celebration.

” As you are aware, we are just about rounding off activities marking the 60th year-long Diamond Jubilee Independence Anniversary celebration, which will terminate 30th September, 2021″. 

” In other words, the activities of the 60th independence anniversary have been arranged to dovetail into that of the 61st Independence Anniversary”, he said

According to him, the occasion is for Nigerians to appreciate the efforts of the forebearers at gaining independence from the colonial masters.

He said the event will also appreciate the varied contributions of successive administrations at building the nation, State.

“Just as we are witnessing the avowed determination of President Muhammadu Buhari to bequeath to the Nation a long-lasting legacy of improved infrastructural facilities and a better economy,” he emphasised.

The Minister urged the Media to give the event the desired coverage while commending them for their support.
