Governor of Kano state Dr. Umar Ganduje has urged Nigerians to make unity of the country a Paramount intrest to enhance peace and progressive development of the nation.
Governor Ganduje made the call at a ceremony to mark Nigeria’s 61 years of Independence held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
He said there is the need for all Nigerians irrespective of their status, party affiliation, ethnicity or religion to come together for the unity of the nation to grow from strength.
” Today the Unity of Nigeria is more important and Paramount than any other thing,” said Ganduje.
He said the disagreement between the Northern and Southern Governors of the country is unfortunate and not a welcome development as the two divides issue uncomplimentary speeches.
He called on the leaders of Northern and Southern Governors forum to organize a forum to settle the differences.
“There is the need for us to forgive each other so that we can forge ahead,” said the Governor.
He commended president Muhammadu Buhari for the recent approach towards tackling security challenges the country as well as his focus on developing Kano state through projects such as roads, Railway, AKK Gas project among others.
He also appreciated security operatives in the state, while urged all Kano people to be security concious and embrace community policing as the state government introduces more technology based security measures and Infrastructures including forest areas as that is the only way people can remain safe.
“We will continue to do all we can to keep Kano safe. Individuals must develop security conciousness,” he said
He said quality projects initiated by his Administration to make Kano a mega city are on going as much as some pf those inherited are being completed.
