The Adamawa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned an attack on the party’s National Vice Chairman (North-East), Salihu Mustapha, describing it as an act of thuggery aimed at disrupting internal party processes.

In a State Executive Committee meeting in Yola the State Capital, the Chairman of the party, Shaibu Idris denounced the incident which occurred during the APC North-East Consultative Forum held on June 15, 2025 in Gombe.

The attackers, alleged to have been smuggled into the venue posing as delegates, reportedly targeted  Mustapha, who also holds the traditional title of Sa’in Adamawa.

“The APC Adamawa State Chapter condemns in totality the act of thuggery meted against our son and leader, Salihu Mustapha Ph.D, by individuals disguised as delegates,” Idris said.

Despite the incident, the chapter reaffirmed its full endorsement of the communiqué presented by Mustapha during the forum, which reflects the collective position of the APC Governors Forum, National Assembly members, the National Working Committee, and the Adamawa State chapter.

The communiqué declared unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing him as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The Adamawa APC further clarified that the violence witnessed at the venue was unrelated to the consultative meeting itself and urged Nigerians to disregard any attempts to associate the event with the unfortunate incident.

“We wish to make it clear that the act perpetrated at the venue has nothing to do with the meeting and should be disregarded by all right-thinking and well-meaning Nigerians,” the party Chairman stated.

The incident has sparked renewed discussions around internal party security and the need for stricter vetting of participants at political gatherings.
