APC’s Umar Namadi Wins Jigawa State Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in March 18 governorship poll in Jigawa State, Umar Namadi as the winner of the election.

The Returning Officer for the state gubernatorial election, Prof. Zayyanu Umar Birnin Kebbi announced this at the Collation Centre in Dutse, the state capital.

He said Malam Umar Namadi of the APC emerged winner after he scored the highest votes of 618,449 to defeat other candidates.

According to him “the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Namadi Umar Alhaji scored 618,449 votes to defeat his closest rivals Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lamido Mustapha Sule who scored 368,726 votes and Ibrahim Aminu Ringim of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who scored 37,156 votes.

“Therefore, Umar Namadi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the higher votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” he said.

He said the total registered votes were 2,351,298 while the total accredited votes stand at 1,073,540 and the total votes cast is 1,052,793.

Namadi will replace the incumbent, Abubakar Badaru of the APC whose two-term of eight years ends on May 29, 2023.
