The Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, His Grace, Most Rev. Adewale Martins has reemphasised the need for Nigerians to be more united and live together as one.
Reverend Martins stated this in Lagos during the investiture of Papal Chaplains, Knights, Medalists and feast of the exaltation of Holy Cross.
The celebration of the feast of the exaltation of the holy cross which is done yearly was done to acknowledge the sacrifice and the instrument that Christ used to bring salvation to the world.
Against this backdrop, the Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, His Grace, Most Rev. Adewale Martins wants Nigerians to be more united and always look up to God in their challenges urging the people to serve God always because God rewards those that diligently serve him.
”Obviously, these are very difficult times for Nigerians and it seems that we are carrying more crosses now than ever before because of challenges of our time. I urge you all not to lose focus of who you are as a people in spite of the challenges. This is the time to be more united and give support to one another and serve God like never before’,’ he said.
His grace also urged all the newly invested Papal Chaplains, Knights and Medalists not to relent in their good work but continue to be models of good Christian living calling on all the leaders in the country to do anything possible to help alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians at a time as this.
”it’s also important to say that some of the crosses that we bear have been imposed by bad leadership and governance as well as corruption. I call on those who lead us to try and see what needs to be done in order to lift the challenges that Nigerians are facing,” he added.
The investiture was to recognize and acknowledge the outstanding contributions the people have made to the church and distinguish themselves in the act of charity.
Highlights of the programme were the presentations of medals, swords and certificates of recognition to all the invested Papal Chaplains, Knights and Medalists.
