Aston Villa put up a brilliant effort away from home to tame Tottenham Hotspurs after claiming a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Emiliano Buendia and Douglas Luiz, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.

Tottenham started with Harry Kane in attack, with Heung-Min Son and Bryan Gil supporting on the flanks. While Aston Villa featured a familiar front-three of Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey and Emiliano Buendia as they looked to cause an upset.

The first half ended with few chances created from both sides, but with Aston Villa looking the stronger of the two. Early in the second half, Buendia pounced on an error from Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as he fired in a rebound from a shot, giving Aston Villa a deserved lead after a good piece of play.
