CBN Urges Traders To Accept Redesigned Naira Notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has sensitised traders in the Onitsha market in South East Nigeria on the need to accept the redesigned Naira notes.

 

The team was led by the Head of Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Mr. Uche Tobias.
Speaking to Voice of Nigeria, he said the sensitisation will enable the public have an open mind with regards to the redesigned naira notes.
Mr. Tobias pointed out that the old One thousand, Five hundred and Two hundred naira notes will seize to be legal tender by 31st January, 2023.
He expressed dissatisfaction at the situation where by, most people were rejecting the redesigned notes which he said, is an offence.
Speaking further, Mr. Tobais said the CBN has directed all banks to stock their ATMs with the redesigned notes while customers deposit the old notes over the counter on or before January 31, 2023.
The market executives, men of the Nigerian Police Force, staff of Commercial Banks were on ground for the sensitisation exercise.
