The National Pilgrims Commission is planning to make the 2021 Christian pilgrimage to Jordan a historic one.

The Commission is also making history as the flight will take off from the Yakubu Gowon airport in Jos, Plateau state.

Pilgrimages are religious obligations carried out by Christians for deeper relationship with God.

In years past, Christian Pilgrim Boards plan pilgrimages to Israel, Egypt,  Rome and other places of religious significance to the Christian faith in collaboration with the National Christian Commission.

The outbreak of Corona virus and restrictions on international travels is impacting  the religious exercise, reason why the national pilgrims commission planned the 2021 Christian pilgrimage to Jordan another historic site.

Executive Secretary of the commission Reverend Yakubu Pam says the return of peace to Plateau state and the support of Governor Simon Lalong is making it possible for the 2,500 pilgrims to take off for the religious exercise.

” Arrangements in terms of security, medical, logistics, immigration and customs at the airport have been concluded.

“The pilgims will undergo Covid-19 tests before departure and on arrival in Jordan, anyone who turns a positive result will be dropped from performing the exercise, while protocol that obtain in the host country will subsist for any positive result on arrival” Pam said.

Orientation Exercise
In preparation, the Plateau state Christian pilgrims board is carrying out orientation exercise for all its pilgrims to acquit them with all that is required of them during the pilgrimage.

Executive Secretary of the board Reverend Father George Gorap said they are excited about the trip and look forward to increasing the faith of pilgrims through the religious observance and strengthen relations between Jordan and Nigeria.
