COVID-19: Ebonyi State embarks on fumigation of public places

In a bid to ensure that Ebonyi State is free from the second wave of COVID 19, the State Ministry of Health has embarked on fumigation of all public places.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, who is also an Epedimologist, disclosed this while addressing Journalists on why most public places have been shutdown in the State.

Dr Achi said the essence of shutting most public places is to enable the fumigation done properly.

“The chemical for the fumigation may react differently on individuals and in order to avoid health crises on those who are asthmatic and other related illnesses, Government in their wisdom decided to shutdown public places because of the way the state Government values lives,” he said.

Dr Achi said the fumigation will kill all targeted organisms including the Corona Virus, if it is available in any of the places fumigated.

The Epedimologist said since state Government built the virology Center in the state, lasa fever on early diagnosis can be handled amicably.

The reasons why people die of lassa fever before now is that there was no nearby diagnosis Center and in most cases, before patient would get to where he can be diagnosed, such patient might have died but as it stands now, Ebonyi State has come of age as it concerns lassa fever and its treatment”. He added.

He urged the the general public to obey all COVID 19 protocols as directed by Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC.

Also the Laboratory Scientist in Ebonyi State Government House Clinic, Simeon Ituma said people should avoid crowded places and also maintain social distances where necessary.
