COVID-19: India donates 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccines to Nigeria

India has donated 100,000 doses of vaccines to  Nigeria.

The statement by High Commission of India in Nigeria, Tuesday evening, said the consignment was delivered to the country through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA.

Handing over the consignment, the Indian Acting High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Velagaleti Surendra said the vaccines were manufactured at the Serum Institute of India, Pune, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturing facility and approved by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control  (NAFDAC), Nigeria.

the supply of vaccines to Ngeria is in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment, made at the UNGA in September 2020, that India’s vaccine
production and delivery capacity will be used to help humanity in fighting Covid-
19. 

He added that the supplies of Made in India vaccines to Nigeria is in keeping with India’s longstanding, age-old and time-tested ties with Nigeria.
