The Governor of Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade, has relieved four Commissioners and five other appointees of their appointments.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita indicated that the Commissioners for Climate Change and Forestry; Donatus Etim, New Cities; Mike Usibe, Women Affairs; Rita Ayim and Information; Asu Okang were relieved of their appointments.

Other appointees who were also relieved of their appointments are Mr Leo Inyambe, Right Honourable Orok Otu Duke, Mr Victor Okon (Alausa) and Mr John Etim Bassey as well as Honourable Agbiji Mbeh Agbiji.

“Consequently, they are hereby directed to return government properties and vehicles in their care with immediate effect to the Chief of Staff to the Governor,” the statement indicated.

The Governor thanked them for their services to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Donatus Etim, the Commissioner for Climate Change and Forestry, had earlier tendered his resignation to the State Governor in a letter dated May 21, 2021.

“I humbly wish to resign my appointment as Commissioner and member of the Cross River State executive council.

“I consider it a great privilege to have served as Commissioner of Climate Change and Forestry, a platform that availed me the unique opportunity to interface with key stakeholders in climate change mitigation locally and internationally,” Etim stated.

It would be recalled that Governor Ayade defected to the APC on May 20, 2021, and ordered all his appointees to decamp and register in their various wards for the APC, an order, which many have already obeyed.
