CSO Advocates Credible Nasarawa Local Government Polls

Network for Civil Societies in Nigeria has urged stakeholders in the state to exhibit more commitment to strengthening democratic values, in the October 6th, election.

 

The call was made during a press conference by the National Coordinator, Comrade Victor Kalu, in Lafia the state capital.

 

According to comrade Kalu, all stakeholders in the State should collaborate with Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) in ensuring a credible and transparent election in the State.

 

He further calls on the State Government to declare Tuesday 5th October 2021 half workday, and 6th October 2021, the election day, as a full work-free day.

 

This is to enable Civil Servants in the State to go back to their various communities and participate In the elections appropriately Also, there should be total restriction of movement of persons and goods on the day of the elections and relevant law enforcement agencies should ensure compliance with an exception of these on special and emergency duty,” Kalu said

 

The electoral umpire of the state is commended for its wonderful Preparation for credible, transparent, violent free and fair Local Government Elections in the State by the State Electoral Laws,” he explained.

 

Kalu said the various Security Agencies in the State have been perfoming their duties as he gave assurance of providing a secured and peaceful environment for the elections.

 

He urged them to remain focussed and resolute in safeguarding lives and property even after the elections.

 

Comrade Kalu consistently calls on citizens in the state to ensure peaceful polls, avoid violence in whatever form to sustain a peaceful atmosphere during and after the election.
