Evacuation: 118 stranded Nigerians arrive in Abuja from Libya

A batch of 118 stranded Nigerians has arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja from Tripoli, Libya, via Buraq Air in the early hours of Wednesday, 17th March 2021.

The return of the 51 Males, 41 Females, 17 Children, and 9 Infants, was facilitated by the Federal Government in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration IOM.

Director Consular and Legal Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi, while addressing the returnees, urged them to assist government efforts in creating awareness on the challenges associated with irregular migration by sharing their experiences.

Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NIDCOM, NIS and NCDC, were on hand to ensure all COVID -19 protocols were observed.

The Returnees are isolated at the FCT Hajj camp to observe the mandatory 14 days isolation as part of the COVID-19 protocol.
