“Farin Ruwa Waterfall a huge Tourism Hub”-Minister

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed says the Farin Ruwa waterfalls in Nassarawa State will serve as a tourism hub in the country because of its unique nature, beauty and scenery.

The Minister made this known at the state capital in Lafia when he came on a working visit and had a chat with the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.

The main thrust of the discussion and the official visit has to do with tourism development in Nassarawa state and the Farin Ruwa water falls in particular.

According to the Minister any state government that will invest 3 billion Naira directly to have access road to a tourism destination has clearly shown a strong commitment and also making a huge statement at the same time.

“The state will surely get rewarded by investing such huge amount to develop tourism. Infrastructure is one of the biggest challenges of tourism development and the governor clearly understands that and has fixed it with his road construction intervention,” the Minister said.

In the highlight of the discussion, Governor Sule revealed that the state has completed the construction of a 3 billion Naira road that leads to the Farin Ruwa waterfalls all in a bid to encourage tourists and investors.

He said besides the tourism potentials of the water falls, a dam was presently being constructed; there is also opportunity for irrigation agriculture as well as full blown tourism itself.

Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed that his passion for tourism development began a long time ago.

“The Farin Ruwa waterfall is an amazing beauty with huge tourism potentials waiting to be tapped. The investment opportunities are in the areas of irrigation agriculture, power generation, and direct tourism itself.

“We have constructed the 3 billion naira road to the falls because we believe that will go a long way in attracting investors and tourists to the area. In fact, the Ministry of water resources has commenced the construction of a dam in the area to boost other activities like irrigation farming as well as power generation.”

While reeling out the tourism potentials of the state, the commissioner for information, Tourism and Culture, Dogo Shama reiterated that the state was endowed with tourism potentials made of both natural and cultural attractions.

He added that the state government was always and ever ready to create enabling environment for willing investors in the sector.
