The Gwagware Foundation, a Katsina-based non-governmental organisation, has successfully implemented mono water projects benefiting no fewer than 13 communities across various local government areas in Katsina State, North West Nigeria.

The foundation’s resolve to provide water projects was borne out of its commitment towards improving access to safe and clean water, sanitation and hygiene services in communities around Katsina State.

The representative of the foundation, Salim Ahmad Gaiwa, while supervising the water projects in some of the benefitting communities, said, “The initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting Katsina State Government in addressing water scarcity among underserved communities in the state.”

Gaiwa maintained that the water project, which was launched by the foundation in January 2025, was targeted to cover every community across the 34 local government areas in the state.

He added that “While construction of the mono water pump projects are ongoing in the communities across the remaining 21 local government areas, the communities in the 13 local government areas have already started enjoying the project for their day-to-day water consumption.”

“The boreholes and mono pumping machines, which were fully constructed and installed, have already started providing safe and clean water to benefitting communities in the 13 local government areas in the state.”

Some of the residents in the benefiting communities expressed their appreciation for the development, noting the improvement of their daily lives occasioned by the provision of the available water supply, which hitherto was their major challenge within their villages.

Communities that have already benefited from the foundation’s water project were drawn from Mani, Mashi, Dutsi, Kusada, Ingawa, Bindawa, Rimi Dutsinma, Dutsi, and Katsina local government areas, among others.
