Governor Umahi commends NYSC’s efforts in ensuring national development

The Governor of Ebonyi State in Southeast Nigeria, Engr. David Umahi, has commended the efforts of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) towards ensuring the unity and development of Nigeria.

 

Umahi gave this commendation during the swearing- in ceremony of 2023 batch ‘A’ stream ‘1’ corps members at the NYSC permanent Orientation Camp, in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the State.

 

The Governor who was represented by the Chairman, NYSC Governing Board in the State, Mr. Charles Akpuenika, said the corps has done a lot in national unity, integration and development.

 

“The National Youth Service Corps Scheme has attained remarkable milestones in its mandate of national unity, integration and development since inception Over 49 years ago. In the course of the orientation exercise, you will be introduced to various issues bothering on good governance, national security, unity and development”, he told the corps members.

 

On her part, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Mercy Bamai, said since inception of the scheme in 22nd May, 1973, the service has been carefully planned and segmented into four cardinal programs.

 

“The programs are Orientation exercise, primary assignment, community development, the winding up and passing out”. Bamai informed.

 

“At the end of registration exercise, a total of 680 were registered, made up of 318 males, 362 females and am happy to say that since their arrival, they have been peaceful and orderly in their conduct”, she informed.

 

The Corps members promised to continue in their peaceful conduct as earlier commended by the state coordinator.
